Recent grass-root based international collaboration between Japan and Vietnam has gained fruitful results into agricultural fields in the Mekong Delta. Based on this achievements, Tokyo Occupational Safety and Health Center ( TOSHC), The Institute for Science of Labour(ISL) and The Center for Occupational Safety and Environment CanTho(ECHO) are developing new training programme about environmental protection for small and medium sized enterprises in CanTho province. It is called WIPE (Work Improvement for Protection of Environment)programme. As the 1st phase of the programme, delegate from ECHO visited Japan last month for 3 weeks. They had stayed Osaka, Kawasaki and Tokyo, and had studied about Japanese environment issues. On 5th March, for exchanging our cooperation in last year, we held the 2nd Asia Work Health Forum by the support of TOYOTA Global 500 fund.

14-17, Dec 2004, CMTU (Confederation of Mongolia Trade Union) carried out WISCON (Work Improvement in Small Construction sites) workshop in Ulaanbaatar. It was the second training course since the introduction of the WISCON, all of programmes were carried out in the framework of the ILO technical cooperation. This workshop contained two parts, 1) a trainers’ workshop; six local trainers gathered, they discussed and re-arranged the action checklist and training materials, prepared the basic training course cooperating each other, 2) a training workshop; 31 participants gathered, all of the technical sessions were carried out by 6 trainers. In 2004, introduction of new participatory training course, WISCON was completed successfully by great efforts of Mongolian trade union and excellent trainers.

Action oriented training course, the 12th Tokyo occupational safety and health school was carried out 3 and 4 December and 15 participants had attended. By applying from WISE training course which are widely implementing in Asian countries, Tokyo Occupational Safety and Health Center (TOSHC) has conducted participatory occupational safety and health training course since early 1990’s. Particularly, attendance to POSITIVE and WIND programmes in the end of 20 century gave us good opportunities to improve our training course more efficiently.
